About Ragdolls

The Ragdoll is a large, impressive and luxuriantly coated cat breed. Underneath an impressive silky, dense, and semi-long to long haired coat, there is a long, muscular cat with a broad chest, short neck, and sturdy legs. The tail is long and bushy, and the coat will, in the adult cat, form fluffy trousers on the hind-legs and a majestic ruff around the neck and throat.

The Ragdoll is described as ‘astonishingly equable’ and this is a thoroughly agreeable, relaxed, affectionate cat to share a home with. Rarely do owners have just one Ragdoll however, their beautiful appearance and gentle, languid nature is irresistible!

Ragdolls are curious, and quite inclined to assist in your day-to-day activities, but would prefer to sit on your book or paperwork, or watch from a sunny spot whilst you garden, rather than anything too strenuous.

For some time, there was some hype that the Ragdoll was excessively floppy, that they had a lower pain threshold and would simply ‘flop’ when picked up. Some people took this to mean that they would make excellent playthings for children! This is not the case. Ragdolls are not floppy, and have the same pain threshold as all cats, and certainly will not tolerate being treated as toys by children (or anyone else!).

Pet Training

Pet require up to an hour of excercise a day when fully grown, but remember to watch out for the midday heat as walking them in the sun isn’t good for their health. This is how we have trained our kittens and also they are friendly.

Care and Grooming

Purebred ragdoll kittens are born solid white due to a genetic mutation. Their coats begin to develop colors and patterns around two months of age but don’t fully develop their coloration for about two years. Ragdolls are considered a “pointed breed,” meaning their body is lighter colored than the points (face, ears, legs, and tail).

The ragdoll’s medium-length coat is silky-soft and often compared to rabbit fur. Their fur is somewhat longer and thicker around the neck, giving the appearance of a mane. Their ears are relatively small and slightly rounded. These large cats are not overly muscled; they are rather soft and quite flexible.

The ragdoll has a silky single coat (meaning there is no under-layer of fur). It’s meant to be lower-matting than other medium-haired cat coats. This breed still benefits from brushing at least twice a week to help avoid tangles. Like all other cats, ragdolls also generally need nail trims. Keep in mind that your cat will probably want to sharpen their claws even more than normal after a pedicure, so be sure to provide good scratching posts.

Clients Review

We are active duty military and were worried about how it would affect us getting a Ragdoll. They were really helpful when it came to choosing a kittens and payment plans. The Ragdoll’s health is their main concern, and they take great pride in the care for them. It was a great experience!.

I really loved the staff, super friendly and non pressuring. Fell in love with a Ragdoll but, i was scared it won’t associate with my other pets. But i received the conquary. The kitten i got from these guys is the best. She is very friendly to my cat and playful. My daughter can just stay without her.
